Question about Hurst shifter

I got Lou's Short Stick today but I cant seem to be able to unscrew the Hurst **** from the factory stick. Does this thing even come off??

just keep turning your hardest counter clockwise, it'll eventually come. it really sucks to get it off.

Yeah, I got a pair of leather gloves and that helped getting a nice grip on it. Also, after I took it off, I realized there was lock tight all throughout the threads, from top to bottom.
