Default Help, who to install????

My gosh, I never thought I'd have a problem finding someone to install my heads and cam, and intake when it gets here.

Noone I've called seems to froggy to jump into an LS1, even my "buddies" at the local dealership, who claimed back in the summer they were all for it, now seem to have changed their minds.

Even the Venerable god's of mustang racing and late model performance, Bennett Racing turned down the job.

I don't know what to do.

I am thinking about just getting the motor out of the car and leaving it sitting while our engine guys does the installs. He said he was all for it, he would just need the torque specs for the heads.

Any help guys???

I'd really like to keep it pretty close to home.

Bennett is 2 hours away, and that's about as far as I would really like to go.

Or does anybody have any other ideas for different plan of action.

Thanks in advance
Taco

This engine has to be the easist to work on.Get the specs and all the stuff(gaskets and bolts etc.)then go for it.The valve springs are the toughest part and you can do them off the car so it souldn't be bad.I would do it for you but I live in TX.

it's not that part of it that bothers me, it's getting the engine out of the car that I'm having trouble with. I can do the minor stuff ( swap rockers, assemble heads, water pump and etc.) and we have an in-house engine guy that can handle anything else I can't.

Thanks for the offer though, I been thinkin about moving to Texas to be closer to all the LS1 guys out there!

Removing the engine?? What for?? This is a head and cam swap right?? Do it inside the car. Not going to be hard I'm going to do it this summer and I'll help ya when I get through with mine if you dont have it done by then! It wont be hard to do it in the car just removing all the computer harnesses and keeping them out of your way is the deal

Nah, there's no way the cam can come out of the engine with it in the car, not practically anyway. I want the motor out so the cam can be degreed and everythi9ng done properly.

Thanks for the advice though, if worse comes to worse, i might have to figure out how to do it that way.

Thanks again guys!

Believe me...you can take the cam out without pulling the engine. I did it last month! I am doing the heads and intake this weekend. It took about 4 hours to change out the cam and do the valve springs. It is really easy! Here are step by step instructions if you have never done it before.

The pro shops (ARE, MTI, Cartek, etc) don't remove the engine to do heads/cam. Why should you? It's a lot of unnecessary work IMO.

Or the guy that did Jose's???

He does a little of his own work, but the majority of his work is done by some other guy

I think I have my man, I need a walkthrough of the head swap like that one from Zangel

If it's about the same difficulty, I just might be in luck.

Any offers???

Thanks guys!!!!
