Default Knock Retard Question PCM Experts!!!

OK if i go to the track sat and put in some Sunco 104 race fuel.I will be on empty when i put it in. Then run the 1/4 mile logging on my Auto Tap if i still get 4 deg of knock retard and im almost sure theres no knock. (at least i cant hear it!)

Then its probally false knock RIGHT??

So if it is i can go into my LT1 Edit Computer and put the Max spark retard table down to zero. Right now its at 5deg and it pulls 4 deg of timing.

So if i do this and log it down the 1/4 mile again and i see no knock retard but the knock count rising is that just the knock sensors hearing valvetrain / exhaust???

What im asking is on race fuel with my weak 10.85.1 compression ratio on race fuel there should be no chance in hell of the motor knocking right.

Right now i hear no knock at all. But thats with 93 and it always pulling 4 deg of timing and i know this is hurting my times. right????

I dont know about yall but false knock is

Let me be clearer the MAX retard table is the amount of timing that the PCM will pull when a knock event occurs stock Impala tables have up to 15 deg of timing to pull. But aftermarket tuners put this at like 5deg or so. And i will put it at 0. So no timing can be pulled.

I wouldn't put it at 0. Put it at something very small, like 0.5 degrees or even 1 degree if possible, that way when you monitor the car down the track you will still know if it is trying to pull timing.

And yes, I'd have to say that if it shows KR with 104 unleaded in the tank on a cold day like today, you definitely have false knock.

Yes the Lt1 Edit is awsome i can put any timing value i want for it to pull if it hears knock right now it runs at like 29deg of timing at WOT but it should be closer 33-34 so imsure thers some power to be gained! Maybe a 11 on motor this weekend fingures crossed for sure!

Do your O2's look ok though?
The only way you would experience real knock at with that Octane is if you are running ridiculous amounts of timing or suffering from Lean detonation. Also if you have a bearing, piston or valvetrain problem knock can be recorded as well.
Cheers,
Chris

Oh Nooo! I'm gonna starve to death! hahaha. I only sell 2 or 3 of these KOBoxes per month, and have only sold about 25 of them so far. Besides, its a $38 KOBox vs $500 for LS1-EDIT, and $1,000 for the laptop to run it, and $250 for Autotap to monitor it. I think $38 is easier to come up with
