Default ST3500 Question

I am seeing gains of 1+ sec with this converter. I have run an 8.19 @ 87.2 w/191 60' on F1's with a cutout and a G2 lid in the 1/8. My freind is telling me that because my car is running so good I won't see very much improvement with this converter. Would it be possible to see 1 sec. gains with just a ST3500? He says just get some Nitto's and forget the stall. I know I will have to get better tires with the stall. What do you guys think I should do?
Thanks, Larry

Go for the stall. Just because a car runs well does not mean it will not benifit from a stall converter. The fact that it already runs well will be the icing on the cake once you add the converter. Are you sure your friend just doesn't want you to be faster than he is? LOL

My friend drives a 99 Viper GTS. I don't think even with the stall I could beat him.

Get the converter and nittos and you'll cut some 1.6x 60' and have some nice gains. May only be .5 gain in the quarter given the 60' you are already cutting is very good for stock.

You aren't going to make up being 2 cylinders short of him with just a high stall converter. You'll need to dig deep into your wallet or spray him.

Your friend don't know much about stall conterters does he. My car went from right where you are, 12.88 with a 1.95 to a 12.15 with a 1.59. I Have a ST3500 and have never looked back. I just recently sold it and am installing a YTP4400. Get the converter and suprise the hell out of him.

I had a best 60 ft of 1.95 before the ST-3500, 1.67 after. I picked up .5 on my 1/8 mile time.

Get some real tires.

All the guys in my club with that converter have gained anywherer from .60 - .72 in the 1/4 and all of em are running 1.65- 1.69 60's on Hoosiers or ET Streets. These are also stock motors with small bolt-ons and the car running 12.20's still doesnt have headers. Damned 01's!!!!!!!!!
