Default Valve springs

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using dual coil springs vs the beehive's. I ask this because I see comp cams makes beehives that will handle .650 lift and more.

duals are a little heavier, but for what most of ous do with these engines, that doesn't matter, there are other ways to shed weight from the valve train. i personally would use a crane #144832 spring, it is good to .650 lift w/.060 coil bind clearance. i think the dual spring controls the valve motion alot better than the single, and having that inner spring helps with a little more seat pressure, and if the spring where ever to break, you have another to back it up, as with a single spring, it breaks, it usually takes the valve with it, upon other things.
