Default Test drive after TTS install....and more

Well, took it for a ride and first I must say, uh, Daum!

The Lower U joint is rubbing the header when turning. Has anyone had this problem?

We also put the Energy suspension tranny mount in. It does feel tons better and all the rattle from in there is gone. Love the way the shifter feels! I took advice from here about vibration and left out the plate and beginning just under 2K RPM and on up, the vibration is awful. It vibrates everywhere... Am I the odd ball?

I also am not real happy with the off road pipes with the Borla wide open. Now I know what rasp is because I hear it. Going to try different plates. If the rasp were not there, boy what a BARK !!

Any suggestions about the vibration or anything? Will time make it better?

All and all, one happy camper here!!

Does the vibration go away over 3000 rpm? I can feel my car vibrate just a tiny bit in the 2000 - 2200 range after my MACs went in because of the rasp.

Could be the tranny mounts. You wouldn't be the first pull them out after a few days.

The vibration is there way up in RPM's.

And another thing about it is when I started the car and let it warm up and reved it a few times to hear it there was no vibration. After the test drive it would vibrate just sitting and taking it to almost 2K. Not moving but slowly giving it fuel. It is everywhere, steering wheel, butt, everywhere.

Hi John!

Good luck with the move. If you need anything while getting settled in, let us know.

Well, I tried all the plates in the Borla. I don't mind how loud it is, I just don't like the sound. I ended up leaving the solid plate in there. It is quiet at idle and loud with acceleration, but I don't like the sound.....

What now?

We messed with the tranny mount a bit more and most of the vibration is gone.

Doing all these poly bushings at the same time really stiffened it up and I have BMR SFC's on the way and am wondering how much tighter it get.

And the headers.... WOW. She just wants to GO !

If you take that tranny mount back out and grind off the two "humps" on the top of the poly block, you're vibration will be completely eliminated.
Promise. Been there done that a couple years ago when I had just bought my brand new 98. It's an awful buzzing type vibration that'll put your hands to sleep almost ...right?
I also have the TTS LT headers. Mine do not rub anything anywhere. You need to check that problem ASAP. Later..

I'll bring my doctor kit next time we go to the track and give you a complete inspection, might be medical thing, ya know.

Glad to hear the car is running good. did you fix the rear?

HaHa...Maybe that vibration will shake some sense into me. I hope not!!

Nothing done with the rear yet. I'm still waiting for that 12 bolt to fall out of the sky. I'd love to see what the car will run now, but I don't think it will see the track without a new rear.

We grinded down the edge on the U joint so that is under control. I just have to chase down a rattle that is driving me crazy and that should do it. With all the changes at once it is hard for ME to tell what is doing what. But I know I like it!

I also hear an 'air' sound somewhere under the front of the passenger side. I thought it may just be a new sound with the ORP's but that is kinda stupid huh. Maybe on of the exhaust band clamps is leaking.

 Still feeling animated......

Did you do the restrictor plates for the AIR fittings? They can sound like a header leak.

Yep, TA_2001 reminded me of that. This does sound like it us underneath the front somewhere, but with the new sound of everything, it is hard for me to tell exactly where it is, ya know? With the tranny mount I hear everything!

I think I may put it on the lift later today and run it.
