cost(s) to rebuild my LS1?
I'm just wondering who all out there has had the bottom end rebuilt by someone else (ie professional mechanic, not a friend) and what is cost them. I live in Oklahoma so if anyone knows someone good in the region then that'd be cool and I could talk with them about it.
My engine has got 101k and has P&P LS6 heads and a comp grind cam. So I will be looking for forged pistons, rods, and crankshaft. Do I need to buy new pins & bearings & bolts and such if I do that? I could go with a new rotating assembly kit but that's like $3000 for Lunati's. Any other top notch kits out there for cheaper?? If I do this I should have the supporting mods for a S/C, STS, or some kind of tubro once I get my new rear end.
Diamond pistons cost like... what... $550? or something.
Forged connecting rods are like $600-$1200.
The forged crankshaft is easily $1000.
What would you recommend to go about forging your LS1 on a budget?
Thanks!

yeah def. look into the cost of purching a short block cause by the time you add 75% of the stuff together, your usually already there. its hard to build it yourself for cheaper then the assembled short blocks go for through some companies.
and stock crank is plenty unless your building a 10,000rpm race engine. a friend built a 3rd gen and went high 9's with a turbo on the stock crank. and his stock unported heads/throttlebody/intake were what held him back at that point.
