Default FLP Ring Clamps

Has anyone had these things fail on them?

Yesterday I heard a 'tinging' sound and looked underneath and could see the bolt of my rear driver side ring clamp was really loose. No problem I thought Ill just cinch her up when I get home. Well I get under the car, and go to tighten the bolt, and the damn thing falls out of the ring clamp! Then I notice the bolt is bent at a 30 degree angle! And the butterfly on the ring clamp is all whored out....then I notice that my front passenger side ring clamp is going to do the same thing soon as it is starting to bulge out.

I bought these in October. Do you think FLP will send me two new ring clamps? Anyone had this problem? Im thinking that maybe I cinched them up too tight, but I dont think so. Theyve been on the car for at least 3 months since I last swapped the cats and OR pipes with no problem.

Anyway...any insight/experiences welcome.

You had them tightened too much. If you overtighten them, the part that holds the "T" of the bolt will start to bend out. I carefully tighten mine until I see that section try to bend.

You can get replacement V-band clamps at FLP. The front ones are 3" and the rear ones are 2.5"

I'd recommend e-mailing Dan @ FLP. He deals with the exhaust systems. dolarbills@sprynet.com I agree with Tony that they were overtightened.

i saw that this was gonna be a problem when installing mine. so i took my clamps down to a local welding/fab shop and had them weld (TIG'ed) on some small strips of metal (stainless) to keep the loops from splitting apart. works perfect and i was only charged $20 for it. just dont go too close to the end to give the bolt some room to swing. now i'm worried about those cheesy aluminum nuts on there!
