Default i think i have a collapsed lifter

My engine is making a ticking noise and i had a misfire problem and i took the valve cover off and i had a bent pushrod...well i ordered my new one and it wont touch the rocker so i believe i could have a collapsed lifter, what do you guys thinkk? now to replace the lifters do i take the intake off or do i hav e to take the heads off too? that is kind of a dumb question but i think i saw somewhere that i had to take the heads off but i just want to make sure before i get into it this weekend. Thanks

Something sounds wrong, can you see the lifter through the hole? Is the valve spring at full height? How did you bend the pushrod?

Basically, the pushrod bends because the piston hits the valve. In mild cases it's no big deal, but it rarely causes a lifter to collapse. If you had no tapping before this, check the spring height, the rocker etc. closely. If the lifter got turned and jammed, held the valve open etc. and that's what bent the pushrod, you may have several other issues to deal with.

You might as well go ahead and pull the head on the side with the bent pushrod. You are going to have to anyway even if the only problem is a collasped lifter. When you get in there, you will see if you have other issues.

Does the rocker look OK? The spring should bsically be the same height as the one next to it. Which cylinder and which valve are we talking about?
