Default It used to idle good.....

After installing my cam i drilled out the TB hole and had it idling real good on cold and warm starts. Then I installed my Headers and was running slightly lean so I richened up the MAFT using A-tap. Now it idles like crap again? It is obvious that because I richened the BASE it is not idling as well but it needs that extra fuel to keep the L trims near 0. Do I need to drill the TB hole even bigger since now I am passing more air through the engine, and more fuel to compansate. I was thinking that maybe the 15/64th hole is choking up the motor at idle. Any suggestions?

Don't drill the TB unless your IAC count is too high, High 40s & over. Around 30 is ideal, but it is easy to overshoot.

It is ok for your LTRIMs to be in the 4 - 8% range as long as you're not experiencing pinging, KR or converter lock-up issues. Try putting your MAFT settings back a click.

my IAC counts range from 8-20 depending on how long I let it idle for. My ltrims are down to -2 so maybe I should lean it back out so my ltrims are around 2 or so? I was just afraid of leaning out to much with the cam in there which usually tend to use more fuel on the low end. I will try leaning it out a bit now. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

brendon this helped me out alot with my cam, try the idle relearn, I was surging and had issues with warm startups with me Thunder 224 cam I drilled to 7/32's and that made it a little better but I was still having issues, I did the idle relearn and now I idle close to stock. It's at least worth a shot.

will the idle relearn do anything different than resetting the pcm by pulling the fuses? If so, how do I do it?

Definitely try cutting your MAFT back a click. IAC count is too low. Do not drill any bigger.

Idle relearn procedure basically lets the car idle in gear and in park for a couple minutes each and then with the A/C on, in gear and in park.

http://www.ls1.com/pcmidle.htm

go to the above page for the idle relearn, I thought the same thing that it was only like resetting the computer but the extra idle time really made a big difference with my car.

I will definetly try the idle relearn then.

I got close enough to the 0 settings on both the l trims and WOT, I was at 2 clicks rich on the base and 1 rich WOT. So I took the MAF ends off which were leaning me a bit, and took off the MAFT and just put the stock MAF ends back on, I am hoping that it will put me where I need to be. I checked the l trims with the stock MAF and they ranged between 4-9, is that ok or to lean?
