Default New 454 ls-1 block

OK I have read about this block in the performance racing industry magazine. It is all aluminum with siamesed bore. It has a set bore of 4.120 and can be bored. With a 4.250 stroke that is a 453.9 c/i motorbefore boring . Has any one installed one of these. If anyone has any further info on this new block let me know.

Am i wrong in assuming that you can get 454 c/i out of one of these blocks. If my math is correct that is the max. I do not know if this is possible because I do not know what the exact specs are of the block. I could not find them on the web page. Thanks for the link though.

Nick Agostino is building me a 442 as we speak with this block. 4.125 bore after a slight hone and a 4.125 stroke. He felt that the 4.250 stroke would be too long for the amount of nitrous I want to run. We are using a 6.200 rod if you are curious. If you want to know anything specific drop me an e-mail or call Nick. He's almost finish with mine so I'm sure he can tell you a lot about it <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

4.25" stroke is a LOT of stroke in an LS1. Based on testing that's been done at different reputable speed shops, there's a point of diminishing returns when it comes to added cubic inches. I don't know if you'd have to do any clearancing on the block for a 4.25" stroke crank, particularly on the C5-R block. 4.25" stroke is gonna really be yanking those pistons against the cylinder walls, and the possible reduced longevity of the engine won't be worth it IMO. Call MTI and speak to Jayson about the 449 cid that they've built a few times. He'll be able to give you the complete details on the pros/cons vs. a 422. Also, more cubes over a 422 is pretty much a waste IMO until the restrictive intakes are replaced. Hopefully the Holley intake will provide some really nice results when properly ported and port-matched to the heads.
