ok, LS6 with 620 miles, what mods to do first??
I must admit, I'm really lov'in life with this Z06. For a former die-hard Ford guy, that's saying something. I got some baseline track numbers about 2 weeks ago and will be on the dyno 3/2/02 at MTI.
What simple bolt-ons are worth the money? I'm leaning towards the 160 therm and most definitely the CAGS, but what else is worth it? Is a K&N filter or other air-box combo worth it on an 02 Z?
BTW, the car has around 620 miles now. Will it continue to pick up some steam with more mileage?

Get the Haltech T1 intake, a MAFT, and some other little goodies, headers would help out a lot....one identical around here dynoed 349rwhp and 360rwtq with 100 miles on it You will notice it start to pick up around 7000 miles....but the guy around here with the mods I listed above got an 11.84@117 out of it....
1.7 60ft on the stock tires in the back....

I wouldn't waste the money on the MAFT. Now that LS1 edit is around, it will soon be a museum piece. The LG Motorsport headers are producing some solid mid range and peak numbers on the LS1 and LS6 motors. They are pricey, though. The Halltech T1 system is nice, but just getting the intake and then a custom PCM tune is cheaper and would probably produce the gains without the added extras.

Ditto.
Don't waste your money on a 160 unless you plan on boring out your engine, go Nitrous, or power adder.
You have to get a Hypertech or custom tuning to switch the fans on earlier anyway. If not, the 160 ain't doin' dink.

From: HOU - yeah, you know the rest.
BLU-BY-U, MTI has a great C5 ram air kit, you'll pick up about 15+ rwhp on the dyno and more than 2 mph @ the track. A 160 thermostat isn't a bad idea either. If you'd like to spend a little more try a set of TPIS headers with an off-road X-pipe.
BTW how did you run @ the track.

I strongly disagree. LS1s run much better below 185F coolant temps, and stock they tend to run over 200F.
The airboxes do not really pick up much dyno rwhp on the '02 Z06 Vettes, we have already dyno-tested a few on a bone stock '02. The changes GM made to the new '02 airbox seem to work quite well. You *might* pick up some from the Ram-Air scoop on the bottom of the car that the MTI unit comes with however.
First mods? Stock 16x8 F-body rims with ET Streets and an 11-second bone stock timeslip collection

thanks guys!
Leo, I ran 12.38 at 113.7 on a 2.06 60ft. I was very pleased to say the least considering I have three passes under my belt in this car...
I'll probably head back out to HRP to try for some lower times before modding.
Tony, thanks for the advice. Hope to see you at the 03/02/02 MTI dyno.

IMHO wait until you hit 7k miles or so before you do any serious mods, you will be surpised at the power difference a few thousand miles makes. If you are into drag racing, get some BFG drag radials or Nitto drag radials and a spare set of 17" rims.

He's got a sweet car
We're casually trying to work out a half-way point so we can run 'em
