Default LS6 head --> combustion chamber size?

Anyone know the combustion chamber size on the LS6 heads? I have heard anywhere from 63 to 65. Anyone actually CC a set yet?

Thanks!

Did you know the exaust ports are 2.5-3 cc smaller than the LS1?

This is what I understand:
4.8/5.3 60cc
LS6 64 cc
LS1 67.5 cc
6.0 70-71 cc

Now I'm wondering how much volume is decreased by milling each of these .010,.020,.030,.040 etc. The 6.0 heads are looking prety good right now.

I didn't know that Scott. Cool info.

What size are the chambers on your 5.3l heads after porting and milling?

How much can be safley taken off before we run into intake manifold issues or decreasing the deck surface? I have heard of people going as much as 70 thousandths.

From what I'm told .040 is about the max without running into alignment problems with the manifold. I'm wondering if it's possible to shave down the manifold some though? I think it could be done. But anything higher than that anyway and you can't run a big cam. Even at .040 the ports may not line up just right, but I can remedy that problem. I plan on porting the LS6 intake anyway.

I haven't measured the chambers yet, I'm waiting for the valvejob. I'm going to measure the 5.3 heads soon and my stock 6.0's. I'll post when I do.

What would you do, 5.3 or 6.0 heads?

I was using the 5.3l heads on my solid roller motor and loved them. I had originally purchased a set of 6.0l heads to use, but I decided against it at the time. If you can get the compression up with the 6.0l heads, I think there will be a nice set to go with.

I'm debating on which set I'll use when I do heads. I would love to try a set of LS6 heads if I can find some used and cheap.
