Default HELP!!! My car is screwed!!!

Ok I'll start with this afternoon, car ran fine all day long, installed a bottle heater for my dry system.Everything was normal. Got the pressure up to 1050psi and wanted to try a 40 punch with the 125 jet. (6pm) Opened the bottle, hit the switch and I roasted the tires at 40mph and then got out of it. Closed the bottle, made a few stops and then headed home. (9pm) Everything still normal, (it had started to rain slightly) start the car up and head to my brothers house and bs'ed for about an hour. (10pm) I got ready to leave and the car felt like the battery was dead. After a few minutes I got the car started and it reved up to like 3300rpms and then back down to 2000 and then started surging terribly. I try putting it in reverse and the car wants to haul ***. I put it in park and shut it off. Pop the hood and everything looks ok. Started it up again and it does the same thing. After putting it in and out of gear finally the rpms are normal and I drive home. On the way home everything is normal. (11:30 pm) Went outside to see if the car was still acting up. Same **** as before. WTF!! Any ideas? TIA

What are your mods?

Your symptoms kind of sound like a hosed MAF or something goofy with your intake. With your dry shot, did you do something funny to the MAF or around your induction system there?

Well my mods are,K&N,Lid,Mac Headers w/ORP,3:73 gear, ported TB,ported stock MAF. The way the NOS is installed is from the inside of the lid I drilled a hole and screwed the fogger into the lid. I didnt move anything else. Thanks

Well I've had something similar happen.

Twice it happened at the end of the 1/4. The throttle cable was getting pinched somehow and it wasn't fun. Luckily I was thinking fast enough to shut it down, then turn the key on so I could steer. I would try to see if it might be getting caught up somewhere, or the pedal under the floor mat. Don't laugh, that happened to me once too.

Yeah - that's a good point, check the throttle cable (or the TPS for that matter as well).

What I am worried about is that it went away and then came back.

Good luck - probably the good news in this is that it should not be a huge problem to fix something like this. At least it is not a deep clunking sound from within your engine.

The only reason that makes me think the throttle cable wouldnt be stuck is when the car started surging. Please dont say CLUNK! I cant afford anything major right now.

I didn't realize it came back again after the initial startup. But sometimes if you start your car with the pedal pushed down, it'll try to idle at a high speed. I've done that before too. But, just starting it over again cures that. Do you get an SES light?

Could a vaccum leak cause something like this?

OK here is what is happening this morning. tried to start the car and it is still screwing up. Anytime the car has a hard time starting up is when the idle rpms are high and surging. If the carstarts right up the idle rpms are normal. Any ideas?? TIA

Just a FYI it looks like a carbon build up on the TPS sensor was the culprit. I'll post for sure later. Thanks Weatherguy,Jantzer98SS,and Steve98z
