why am i only getting knock in 6th gear?

why am i only getting knock in 6th gear? i dont get knock in any gear except 6th. i scan spin the engine all the way to 6k in 1st-5th and at the most get .3*
6th is a different story. 70mph at part throttle (not cruising....but not flooring it either) shows as much as 4-5* while my o2's appear to be dead on @ 900. is there a heavier load on the engine at this point? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">
i am running a bit lean. my 02's average around 870ish in 4th gear @ high rpms (yet no knock).

You have the answer right here. The higher the gear (1st, 2nd ... 6th), the more load is on the engine.

i suppose theres nothing i can do about it either. sometimes i will pass people in 6th. guess i wont do that anymore. <img src="gr_emb.gif" border="0">

Re: why am i only getting knock in 6th gear? Ever now and then I get a little when I'm in 4th (I've got an A4) and I dip into it going up a hill or passing someone on the hwy. I never have any problems at WOT though, or even heavy throttle.
