I posted this over on LS1.com but did not get much help. Not sure if it belongs in this forum but I need some suggestions.
I have no idea why, but for the last two weeks my back window of the rear hatch has started to vibrate somewhat loudly under moderate to slightly hard acceleration right around 1800-2200 rpm's. Also, occasionally you can hear a slight vibration or almost rattle like sound just barely off idle when pulling out of the driveway or slowly creeping along. What is odd is that my car NEVER had this problem before.
I took the car to the local dealership and naurally they blamed it on the cold winter weather of Illinois and my loud aftermarket exhaust(GMMG). I've had the GMMG on for five months now and the rear window never vibrated before. Hell, I even had the SLP LM on for five months before I got the GMMG and had no problems then either. I've checked to see if anything is loose but nothing appears to be. And the exhaust is tightly bolted up and is not loose. The sound is definitely coming from the top half of my rear window it seems.
Does anyone have any idea WTF is wrong with my car and how should I go about fixing this problem?
I really don't want to remove my GMMG to put a quiet stock exhaust back on but at the same this vibration/slight rattle like sound is really getting very annoying since this car is my daily-driver.
BTW, the car has only 8,250 miles on it and I am the original owner.
Thanks,
Mike <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

The GMMG exhaust might have created the vibration but not right away.. I know with my cutout open, I can hear some vibration from the rear area every now and then..You might also want to make sure your exhaust tips are extended past the lower portion of your rear bumber to get the sound out from under the car.. Also, make sure your exhaust tips are soft mounted not hard mounted...
Hope this helps, Sawacs

Hmmm...Very interesting about the GMMG exhaust. Although the tips clearly do not touch the rear bumper they are tucked in kind of far underneath. The tailpipes definitely are not real long. Thanks for the advice and I'll see what I can do. I'd hate to have to take this great sounding system off because it caused an irratating vibration, but this problem does sound like it may be exhaust related due to the whole 2000 rpm area thing now that I think about it.
Just to clarify, this vibrating noise is definitely coming from the rear window of my car. And like I said before, although nothing appears to be loose, it almost sounds like the glass actually rattles a little. It can get quite loud at times.
Any other ideas?
