Default Got heads back from porter, got flow #'s and a ?

OK, got my heads back from being ported.

All those with flow number experiences, translate this for me!

I can't remember the exact numbers up to .550 lift, but they do flow 292 at .550, which is as high as my cam lift.

Is this pretty good? From what I've heard it's pretty decent, I hope so.

Also, what HP #'s should I expect from those heads, a .221/.221 .558/.558 cam on a 114 LSA and a port matched holley intake???

Now, for my actual question, the heads I got ported are different from the heads on the engine i have. The only difference I noticed are the valve covers. The VC's on the engine I have t build are 4 bolts in the center (centerbolt) and the ones I got ported are perimeter bolt VC's.

What does this mean??? Please tell me they will still work.

I sure do hope so!

Thanks guys!!!!

You didn't get your own 99 heads back...you got someone else's 98 heads.

You got heads for a 97-98 car. To make em work you'll need 97-98 style valve covers and some bolts to mount your coil packs to the cover individually (they dont use the coil pack rail like later years).

Thats pretty stupid if they didnt ask what year you had before hand....now you'll have to deal with the hassle of individual coil packs and perimiter bolts (not too big of a deal, but not cool either).

Oh should still work..but the I don't know how well the PCV system will matchup with the hoses.

I have the same cam you have and my heads flowed 308cfm at .575 lift. Don't have the .550 lift figures on me.

I didn't send him my heads off of my car, I bought them off of eBay. I knew they were a different year, but I wasn't sure of the differences.

What will be involved in using my coil pack system off of my car on the new motor???

Also, what all is involved in the EGR system, the motor I am building is just an assembled long block, from pan to valve covers. (I think that is an assembled long block, right?!?)

How hard is it gonna be to swap my Fuel system and other stuff from one motor to the other???

Thanks guys!!!

Guy's name is Chris Howe, if you follow IHRA Pro Stock very closely, any Ford Engine built by Jon Kaase, he proted the heads on.

815 Cubic Inch all motor cars, truly need a LOT of air, and he can do it!!!

If you're interested in getting him to do your heads, e-mail me for prices and parts and such, and I'll get you in touch with him.

Thanks again for the help guys, you guys are priceless!!!!

hey taco, I've switched a 99 car to 98 heads. Here's what you need

* A set of 98 perimeter valve covers. I bought a set from valvegod (on this board). Get a gasket set from him, too.

* Coil pack brackets... OR! If you have any machining skill, you can modify the old ones just fine. That's what I did.

* PCV system will be just a little too short to reach the driver's side Valvecover. I just lengthened it and it was fine.

It's not bad at all.

Sorry, just assumed from what you said they they were your heads from your car that you pulled off and sent to him.

Anyway, the EGR is not a factor, the PCV connections may be different on the drivers side and you'll need perimeter style(97-98) valve covers..you will ditch the brackets that hold all the coil packs and mount them diretly to the valve cover. That should be it. No big deal really.

BTW what's the name of the guy that ported them?

Cool, that's great news Agave.

I don't have much machining experience, but I thought about this instead. I have several friends with CNC experience, so what about having one of them make me some CNC'd coil brackets to relocate them to the firewall, or somewhere out of the way anyway.

I'd really like to move them somewhere that would help in wire changes, but just about anywhere off of the VC would be great!

Thanks again guys!
