Default MAF Question???

I've been told that turning your MAF around will make your car run richer if its running lean. Can anybody validate that information? What are the pros/cons? Will it trip any codes? etc. etc.

Its true, you should just get an MAFT to fix the problem and the MAFT will also help out a lot in the future

I'm getting engine detonation up around 5000-5500 RPM. I was told that it could be running lean, causing the detonation thus triggering the knock retard. I'm just trying to rule things out one at a time.

I was running a little rich and I counln't understand it either. I had just put in some HPPIII programming, not the power programming, but just things like shift firmness, and shift points. Then I started throwing SES codes, PO420 I think it was. Innefiancy catylst something. I heard this was a problem sometimes with the HPPIII. Anyway, I reset my PCM and had my computer relearn all my modes and that took care of the code. Never seen them since. ANd in doing so made my car run perfect. I was around .90 and now I'm at .86-.87. So if you have alot of mods and have never reset your PCM you might try it. It worked for me.
