Default Best cam for cash

Hey kids,

What is the best cam for the buck? I am not ready for heads, just light mods until the warrenty runs out... My Z is a A4-(can't find M6 convt. anywhere)

Also, will headers ruin your warrenty?

Thanks for your time....

Shop the classifieds, I see people selling used cams pretty often. Then you will need some new CompCam 26918 springs and pushrods.

The cheapest cam? GM Hotcam. Although I'd rather spend a little more and get a little more out of a cam swap. These LS1 motors run VERY well and stay pretty damn streetable even with "aggressive" cams.

Headers can't legally void your warranty unless you have damage caused by the headers, or if you have the stock catalytics removed or relocated. Screw the GM warranty, it sucks anyways. I wouldn't let those buffoons at most dealerships touch my car.

I would look at the TR 224 cams on at 112LSA or equivalent.
You can get the Pig cam pretty cheap on the boards. 226/226 590 lift and 112-114LSA.
Cheers,
Chris

Big,

I guess what I am asking, which would be the best cam to get without void my warrenty? If I got an LS6 intake would that expire it as well?

Thanks again...

The TR 220 on a 144 LSA would more to his liking with an A4 and stock heads IMHO.

If you are worried about factory warranty stuff, then you are NOT the type of person that wants a camshaft. ALL of them will void your warranty if they know you have one. Now, some guys get away with warranty work with a cam, but most likely nothing to do with motor work. It all depends on your dealership service dept and how lenient they are.

If you are worried about warranty, stick with stuff that is easily removed and turned back into stock.

Does light mods include any exhaust work or computer work? Do you want a stock sounding cam for warranty purposes?

Bigger cams can create some minor tuning issues in an A4 and a loping cam will be obvious to many mechanics.

I like the bigger cams, but I have no illusion of a warranty. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
