Default Why I hate my dynatech longtubes

Oil changes are hell. You have to use a crescent not a socket wrench on the oil drain bolt; and wiggle it out just right for it to come out. Then the driver side header runs so close to the oil filter you are guaranteed to burn your hand unless you let the car cool off for hours. I say they added an additional 5-10 mins to every oil change; not to mention a very high chance of getting badly burned. Other than that I love them. they tuck closer to the chasis which is good seeing that I am running the sportline springs.

You can get fire proof sleeves and/or gloves from Jegs so that you don't burn yourself .

You could also wrap the headers in that area or change the oil with the motor cool

Does'nt surprise me... those are "Race Headers".

I like em'. But I wonder if the tubes are'nt TOO big for a stock cubed motor.

Hmmm...
Somebody want to donate a pair for me to try out?

No problems with them here. With a bad clutch the car ran a 12.2@117. With a clutch it will be in the 11's no problem, stock internaly.

How much are those bad boys? Pretty slick idea, however, what about the tiny metal particles that a magnet plug would catch, would this allow them to exit the motor? Thanks.

get a small fan and blow it right on the headers near the drain plug then go inside and get a drink or a sandwich and by the time you come back out the headers won't be hot anymore. Granted you have to wait for them to cool down but it goes a lot faster with a fan blowing on them. Trust me

Or you can relocate your filter up front like I did (nice and cool there) I have plenty of clearance for my drain plug. At least an inch or two

We just put on a set of the 1 7/8" step headers with Merge collectors. No oil changes yet though. NICE Header either way.

Will a Fumoto valve fit in between there?
