Why would i smell fuel?

Why would i smell fuel? Ok i am beginning to smell fuel very faintly inside the car and after driving around for awhile and opening the door i get a pretty strong wiff of it. I had the engine replaced under warranty about 3K miles ago, and before then i never smelled gas. Now I do quite frequently, and Im wondering if it could be fuel pump related or that Im running extremely rich (which i think i am). I let it go for quite some time, thinking maybe i just spilled some gas on a fillup but thats obviously not it. Let me know what you think and if i should be concerned.

Re: Why would i smell fuel? IF it happened replacing the engine I would look att he fuel rail to make sure it isn't damaged. Also check where the tubing meets up with the fuel rail. Could also be leaky injectors. It's easy to pinch an o-ring when putting the injectors in the rail. Did it twice.
