Default Egr removal

I have just bought a LS6 intake. It doesn't have the egr. I wanted to know if I can just take the egr off and not worry about anything messing up. I do not care about an SES light, just don't want to lose performance.
Thanks.

If you remove the EGR tube you will get an SES light. The only way around it is to get new programming, or install one of the gadgets that route the exhaust air to another portion of the intake.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the SES light bumps your car to a more conservative timing table. With an SES light you will loose a little bit of performance.

The code itself governs the engine's reaction to the SES light. I've run a the track and seen virtually no variation in times/trap speeds with the SES light on (due to the "random misfire" code synonymous with the hotcam and stock programming).

I do not believe this to be true for an SES light related to EGR, AIR, Cat O2 sensors, or low idle misfire codes.

I've seen a stock headed cam only LS1 do 395rwhp on the dyno with an SES light from EGR, it's not gonna cost you any performance. If you can deal with the light, go for it! <img src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" border="0" alt="[chug]" />
