I am looking into getting some headers for my 2001 SS...I have been looking into both headers and I was noticing the SLP's are a little bit cheaper...What are the basic PROS and CONS for both headers?..Also H.P. Gains?..Thanks

I don't know eact HP gains (depends on what ya got already), but the basic consensus is that the SLP's are the only stainless headers out there (LT) and they make good HP, are tuned, and hard to install. They are also terrible for ground clearance. Whereas the FLP's are easy to install, offer more clearance, produce good HP, and come with cats and OR pipes (hence the bigger price tag). The FLP's seem like the choice to me.....but I'm sure there are others that feel otherwise.

I cannot find that much info on the FLP's so I was just wondering what they were...I asked a guy at a local car shop and he basically said the same about the SLP's...The CATS that come with the FLP's are those smog "LEGAL"?..Thanks for your input...

You might want to consider the Jet-Hot coated Hooker LT's (that's what I chose). Of course, you'll have to do a custom Y-pipe for these until the Hooker Y-pipe is available, but they are good on clearence (my car has the Eibach springs, and I have minimal clearance issues with the headers - the Y-pipe, OTH... ). They look good and fit really well. Just my .02.

The 1 3/4" FLP long tube headers will allow you to run cats on the street and offroads at the track. This package includes a ceramic coated Y-pipe, highflow cats, offroad pipes and a complete installation kit. Note- the use of '98-'99 EGR tubes are required for the 2000 cars and an EGR blockoff will need to be fabricated for the 2001s. 02 simms will be required when using the offroad pipes. This package does not have rear 02 bungs so you will need to run simms with the cats and offroad pipes.
EGR blockoff will need to be fabricated for the 2001s...What does this mean with the FLP's?..Sorry I do not know that much about these...

Both are good on a bolt-on car. The SLPs seem to be tuned for more midrange gain but less top end gain. If you are concerned about emissions, I would compare them apples to apples; that is price the SLPs with ORP & cats.
EGR Block-Off plate. 2001s do not have EGRs. The headers include the EGR fitting. Thus you put a little metal plate over the fitting. 60 seconds of install time to put on the plate using 2 screws.

The reason I got rid of the SLP's:
-scraped the hell out of them
-SES light
-power wasn't there except at mid range
Why I got FLP's"
-tuck up perfectly
-no SES light
-power all over the RPM band

I was the first to get FLP's and I love 'em. Great quality, easy to install, easy to swap ORP's and cats and they made very good power on my car. Since I was also the first to dyno the FLP's I reported my results on LS1.com. I will copy/paste the dyno results and my comments.
=============================================
Dyno was done at MTI where my previous dyno was done. The numbers are "corrected" numbers with the off-road pipes installed. The cats work well, only 2.5 rwhp less and 2.1 rwtq less than with ORPs.
Peak rwhp went from 315.0 to 341.4 +26.4
Peak rwtq went from 331.2 to 355.7 +24.5
BEFORE AFTER
rpm rwhp rwhp Difference
---- ---- ---- ----------
2500 147 154 + 7
3000 178 189 +11
3500 211 228 +17
4000 250 266 +16
4500 283 301 +18
5000 307 329 +22
5500 315 339 +24
6000 307 334 +27
BEFORE AFTER
rpm rwtq rwtq Difference
---- ---- ---- ----------
2500 308 324 +16
3000 311 331 +20
3500 317 342 +25
4000 329 349 +20
4500 330 351 +21
5000 322 345 +23
5500 300 324 +24
6000 268 292 +24
I suspect the cars that will benefit most from the FLP LT header package are those that have been modified with nitrous, cam, heads, supercharger or turbo(s).
