Default LS1 newbie.....need advice

Just got a 2002 pewter Z, auto with 3.23s. I'm not exactly new to the LS1 scene, 5 of my buds have 'em, it's just that I'm not exactly keen on brands and such. Questions I have are.....what stall would be recommended for nitrous use? Long as it's still pretty streetable it's fine with me. My roommate (Utsu on the board) was helping me out, look at some Yank mega beef power destroyer somethin' or other.....stall rated at like 3500. What does everyone on here recommend??

Also, what are some good subframe connectors? I've got a set of the BBKs on my Mustang and they're not the greatest. My Z has t-tops so I think s-frames are a good idea. I've already got the K&N and the lid will be here shortly.

What brand of headers? I'm looking at 1 3/4" longtubes, but I'll have a dual exhaust custom built for it (dual 3" with an offroad X-pipe). Any advice on some quiet 3" mufflers would help....my buddie has Dynomax bullets on his dual 3" setup and it's way loud.

Lot of questions I know, but I'll appreciate any help.

I won't comment on Yank's nitrous-specific converters since I don't have any experience with them. For a converter-specific question, I'd recommend e-mailing Patrick G or posting up in the drivetrain section. I will tell you that the Vig 2800 or 3200 would be very streetable and work WELL on nitrous. One of our board members ran nitrous for three years with the Vig 2800, and I witnessed an SS with the Vig 3200 click off a 10.30 @ 129.8 MPH on a dual-stage nitrous setup. He sprayed the car week after week with no problems at all. I'm currently running the Vig 3200, and for streetability you won't be disappointed! It's an awesome converter for street/strip use.
BMR makes a really nice subframe connector. I put them on my SS three days after I got the car, and they really make a difference. It's a must if you plan on going to the track any with some hard launches. It will keep your car from feeling like a 150,000-mile Pinto when it has 30,000 miles on it. You can check out Raging Motorsports or Thunder Racing for the SFC's.
As for the headers, FLP all the way! I had them on my 383 '98 T/A, and I now have a set on my SS as well. The quality is EXCELLENT, you can swap the cats out for ORP's if you want to, and the kit is complete. Ground clearance is excellent, and you will not find another shop that stands behind their products more than FLP. E-mail me when you're ready to buy a set; I may be able to help you out a little.
It's not a dual-outlet system, but I'm running the SLP dual/dual catback, and I LOVE it! I had the 3.5" Mufflex on the car first, and it got too loud for my tastes. I bought the dual/dual used with 5,000 miles on it for $200 + shipping, and it's the best exhaust I've run yet. I've track-tested the catback three different times now vs. running through my cutout, and not once did I reduce my ET or gain any MPH. It's a very quiet system, it has an awesome sound at WOT, and you won't have ANY rasp if you run an ORP. I see them for sale on a regular basis for $200-$250 with low miles, so that's pretty hard to beat! A true dual 3" catback will be a lot of overkill unless you are looking to run a stout heads/cam setup, stroker, etc. BTW, the Dynomax bullets are just glasspacks. They're loud as HELL!
Did Utsu ever sell his yellow Z?

No, Utsu's still got the car. It's still technically for sale, though I think it holds too much sentimental value and I don't think he really wants to get rid of it. He needs to mod it back up how it used to be, hehe.

Thanks for the advice man, I appreciate your help.

Anyone else??

My car is still for sale! I don't really want to sell it, but I need to get some bills paid off after a few months and I'll get another LS1. If you know anyone interested, just let me know!

converter: ST 3500 or PYE 3600. The PYE 3600 is a little more expensive but will take a lot of nitrous if you decide to really spray a lot.

SFC: BMR is good and not expensive. I have Kenny Brown Double Diamonds and like them a lot.

Headers: If you are staying stock heads and cam, I would choose the SLPs. Good midrange torque. If you plan on H&C, I would look at any of the other longtubes (hookers, TTS or Grotts). Since you are making a custom dual set-up, the FLP interchangable Y-Pipe adds little value. If you can do w/o pollution control hook-ups, the dynatechs win hands down. Grotts are very nice, just make sure you buy them only if the merchant has them in stock.

Mufflers: I was thinking that a dual set-up using the muffler from SLP's 2OTL catback would sound nice.
