Default Installing LS6 cam in 1998 LS1????

Im buying a cam here pretty soon and I'm pretty much set on the Thunder Racing 220/220/114 cam but what advantages would I see by installing the LS6 cam?? I'm also ordering an LS6 intake manifold. Right now, performance mods only include MAC headers, pullies, B&B Tri-flow, and MECHAM airlid. Should I look into the LS6 cam??

The only advantage to the LS6 cam is driveablity over the TR 220/114 cam. The TR 220 is going to make alot more power than the LS6 cam. I would only consider the LS6 cam if I was looking for a super stealth cam that had no lope to it.

If you want a stealth cam get a Comp 216/220. You can get 400 hp out of it and sound stock. That's what I'm getting. I've never really seen the LS6 cam get the #'s or times that would justify spending the time and money on it.

Yeah, upon doing more research into it, the LS6 cam isnt much bigger than the stock one I have now. Here we come Thunder Racing.

I'm putting in the CC 216/220 next month with the 915 springs. In my opinion the difference between this cam and the LS6 cam is night and day.

BigDsZ, I'm putting the Comp 216/220 in my '99 right now. Comp recommended the 26218 springs! They went in real easy and have lots of room between the coils at full lift.

Which LS6 cam are you looking at?

The 2001 LS6 cam or the 2002 LS6 cam?

There a lot of difference in the two cams.

I would NOT even consider the 2001 LS6 cam for all the hassle etc cost, personally for the gain. Detractors of the 01 LS6 cam say its so stealthy even after dynoing the car, you won't be able to tell it's there.

The 2002 LS6 cam might deserve more of a look, as LPE usually recommends keeping it on 2002 LS6 vettes, so it should be an excellent daily driver cam that makes decent hp.

For the best gains, go bigger than either LS6 cam like is mentioned above.
