Which MAF and TB
New here. Love this site! Ive had my TA for nearly 5 weeks and have only 1600 miles, and Im saying screw the warranty. Im ready to carve this baby up. I got some base line numbers last and a 13.325@106.3 w/2.138 60' was the quickest et I could muster. This was my first strip experience in an LS1 and I was rather impressed with this car being showroom fresh. Anyway, the trap speeds look great and hint to lower ets if my 60' were lower. Some more clutch practice and Nittos are in my future to help with dropping my 60' into the 1.9 range. Im also wanting to start with the induction system. Im planning on a whisper lid and the Free Ram Air mod (FRA?) this week and am looking at the SLP Bellows, MAF, and possibly a better TB. The next time I get some spare $$$. Which brand of MAF and TB do you recommend or use. Would an aftermarket TB benifit this relatively stock set-up in any way? After this, what next would you do? I would like a 12sec time slip before summer. Thanks.

Re: Which MAF and TB
I would personally stick with the stock MAF with the screen removed and a Thunder Racing ported TB. Some cars respond well to ported MAFs, others don't. My car lost 8rwhp on the dyno with it, so I have always just stayed with the stock MAF.
A good set of drag radials will be worth the mod though. Never under estimate the power of a good 60'. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Jumpin Horny Toads that was quick. Thanks for the response Jason. Your right, a decent 60' would drop the ets even further, hence my desire for a pair of Nittos Drag Tires in the rear. Are the aftermarket TBs such as Thunder Racing's producing noticeable improvent over the stock TB? Thanks again. Just sponging it up!

Re: Which MAF and TB
The Thunder Racing TB is worth ~5hp on a stock motored car. My car (all the bolt ons + Thunder 224 cam) gained 7rwhp hp and I already had another shops ported TB on my car. LOL It was a good mod for sure!

Re: Which MAF and TB
I agree with Jason, I've got a Granatelli MAF and don't see much difference between it and the stock MAF. I would descreen the stock MAF and get a set of Thunder Racing Ported MAF ends and a Thunder Ported TB and you should be set, the lid and the free ram air mod are a good idea also.
