On my 98z m6.Im guessing could be bent pushrods.would like other opinions.during dragracing while shifting from 1st to 2nd hit rev limiter @6600rpm .also on my way to the track that night Iwas low on oil but low oil light did not come on.next day Icheck dipstick no oil showing.had to add 3quarts to full on dipstick.i dont think my pump going out.Im concern about ticking noise above 1500 rpm.at idle 900rpm no ticking noise.I know I have oil consumption problem. Thanks in advance on your opinion.

Hey bro you need to watch that oil, that is serious unless you have the dough to just throw out and get a new motor. Running that low on oil will cause you to spin a bearing, fortunatly what you describe is a pushrod. I would check the oil more frequently though, it will in the end cause you to have a spun bearing. Then you will hear a knock knock from the bottom end of the motor, the only other thing that it might be is a rocker arm comming apart, but don't see that as much on the 98 as you do on the 99. Just pull the valve covers off and pull all the rockers off and roll the pushrods on a glass and you will know which ones they are if not all of them. pretty easy to do.

hey thanks for the warning ss jet.I know how a spun bearing sounds like.I would really hope that its only a bent pushrod or rockers.I guess will check oil more often than just rely on low oil light to come on.thanks again.
