Default Deleted my PCV and Evap last night

ill post up a pic here in a second. used the autozone breathers. snapped a breather right on the PCV outlet in the front of my motor (fits perfect) and then put another breather on the drivers side valve cover where the hose comes off it. The fuel rail covers coverd it perfectly looks pretty sweet and even better, no more oil sucked into my intake when i spin the monster to 7100 hehe

Only problem is that yoru oil life is now cut in half because the noxious fumes are no longer evacuated. As long as thats no problem for you, then you should be happy with that setup.

I recently did the similar mod, but with a difference. On my aftermarket valve cover on the driver side, I used a Billet Specialties breather & on the passenger side aftermarket valve cover I use a Billet Specialties PCV breather that has a 3/8 line running to a Canton breather catch can. I have not taken the car out of the garage since the mod.

you can cap the intake manifold off, no need for a filter there

huh?? lol the intake manifold is capped... that filter is going to the LS6 PCV

i think that everyone with a 408 should say **** it and cap the **** off.. i have had so many problems with sucking oil.. i think the shear volume of air it takes to fill the bigger cylinders, especially at 7k RPM's its impossible to run even a catch can. cap it off and change your oil more often, no more worrying about detonating from oil.

Have you had any problems with oil blowing out of the breathers at high RPM?

not yet, i really dont think it will just because the only reason oil is really pulled into the intake is because of the large amounts of vacuum created by the motor. with the breathers as long as i dont have horrible blow by the engine should be creating its own little atmosphere and venting out some (not all) gasses out of the breathers as any pressure is built.

at least thats the way it "should" work lol. with my luck the breather will be made of dynamite and spontaneously explode and light my car on fire.. my luck sucks *** lol

What did you use to cap the intake with? I'm thinking about doing this and want something that will look clean.

Any auto parts place will have little rubber caps in various sizes. I think I used 5/16" rubber vacuum caps for the intake and the valve cover fittings.

wait, so what all do I cap off? The neck on the throttle body and the two on the passenger side valve cover? What about that hose on the back of the driver's side valve cover?

Did you pick up any power by deleting the PCV system altogether?

i would say yes, i gained power. the reason i say this is i can now run more timing on nitrous without detonation. when its a perfectly clean air/fuel mixture it helps quite a bit with tuning and detonation. especially with nitrous.

car jsut flat out runs BETTER and CLEANER now. one of the best mods ive done!

You might want to cap off the throttle body or youll have a huge vacuum leak.

It might be a good idea to run a catch cun in between your ps valve cover and throttle body. That way you still get some vacuum without the oil going into the intake.
