Default Best heads for this cam???

Need opinions on the biggest/best bang for the buck heads to go with a custom comp cams grind 234/242 .598 .610 114lsa & bolt on car.

I have a set of ported stock heads, 2.02 1.60 valves. The shop tried them and clayed the pistons to check clearance. It cleared but were worried about clearance in the upper rpms. Cutting the pistons is out of the question.

The car pulls good cam only but could always use something more.

Oh yeah, good cam indeed.
You can make in excess of 450rwhp with that cam and 59cc AFR heads/.040 gasket + all the goodies.

Well you can order the heads without springs, they are $949 with LS6 springs + $100 for race hand finish so $1049.
Better to order with valves otherwise you'll need to do a new valve job if using yours.
I do not know if it would be cheaper without any springs. But TSP will answer that.
If so they would be less than $1000

Call TSP they will hook you up.

Scott we haven't tried any of the prc ls6 heads yet, but have had good luck with all their other heads. We have used a couple sets of patriot ported ls6 heads and typically see about 40 peak rwhp. We put a set on a 228 cam car a couple weeks back it picked an average of 30 hp and about 15-20 lb ft across the board and peaked an extra 43 rwhp and 27 lb ft torque. Not bad for $950 to our door complete with dual springs.

Why is flycutting out of the question? If you just barely cleared with stock heads, im not sure youre gonna make it with a .040 gasket and milled heads. I say cut and be done with it.

He is fine with stock valves. The heads they he wanted had 2.02/1.60 and it wasn't gonna work. Well it didn't work. Has enough room with stock valves. Not sure I would dip to a .040 gasket with a 59cc head though.

Everyone that i've heard about or talked to that has flycut had problems one way or another. Like Andy told me, I could flycut but it might not hold together 6 months. Not worth the $4k risk to me.

Please point me in the direction of any info where people had issues due to flycutting. Theres plenty of meat in the pistons assuming you dont go too far, and even if you spray, more often than not the ringlands usually go before the area where you flycut. Just curious.
