Default LS1 Knock

I have a chance to buy an LS1 for like $300, but the guy says it has a knock in the bottom end. Any ideas what could cause that? And should I buy it?

Spun bearings, stretched rods. Engine probably need a rebuild. For 300 I would take it, the block, pistons, and crank are probably OK.

its for the motor only, i figured it would be worth it, i could rebuild it myself without a problem, just not to familiar with the ls1. Wanted to get some input on the noise.
