Default Radio EMI

Ok, so I read her a lot but don't post much. I know this question is of the lower end of what I woudl expect to see here but it sure is the best place to ask. I am cutting pasting from the SSOA board a question I asked.

A couple of months ago, I replaced my iginition wires with MSD 8.5MM wires. Of course, I haven't driven the car since then. I took the car out yesterday for a spin (WOW, I almost forgot what it was like). Anyway, I had a lot more radio noise than I was expecting. I thought if anything there would be less noise with these wires. Should I be looking for a wire that I did a bad job installing or something? I had autotap on there and did not see any obvious problems.
Number 8 was a pain, I am wondering if I didn't get it on right and it is arcing somewhere and causing my radio noise.

I have looked again qith autotap and see no misfiring or any other obvious problems. I ran the car in the garage in the dark and I can't see any arcing. Any suggestions as to why I get more EMI noise now? I expected that these MSD wires would be better than the stock ones.

Thanks in advance.

If you aren't making super contact with the plugs and coils...you'll still fire but you'll pick up EMI.

I had it bad...rechecked all the connections and it went away....but now I have it again...time to check them again LOL

You know I went through the same thing when I put Taylor 409 wires on my 2000 SS a while back. I didn't think I would have any problem with radio interference...WRONG! It was worse on certain stations but it was definately not there before the wires.

The best wires to use for no radio noise are the stock ones. They're not bad and with a coil on each cylinder a lower resistance wire really doesn't make much difference. IMO

I don't know if there is anyway to lessen the interference with some sort of radio gadget but if its too bad I would just put the stock wires back on.

Nawww, I can live with it. I listen to CD's or the exhaust note more than the radio anyway. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me. I checked them again, they seem to be on tight. Car runs great. So, I'll just leave it alone.

Thanks for the replies.
