Default Synthetic Oil Pros inside...

If there any way to tell if synthetic oil is too dirty and must be changed simply by sight? I've heard you can use synthetic for 5-6000 miles. (I have Mobil 1 in my used '98Z with 28,383 miles...auto...no major mods except exhaust and filter and no hard driving except for the occasional burst)
I'm at about 3700 miles since my last change and the oil is already very dark. Is that normal? It used to do be that way even with my dino oil. I use a KN extra large oil filter.
Thanks!!

Don't let the color of the oil be a factor in when to change it, as with some cars the oil will turn black almost right after an oil change, while with others it will remain light colored for a few thousand miles.

Synthetic oil is wered. I went on a trip and before I left the oil was very dark and when I got back I looked at the oil again and it was light brown. I guess long drives burn out the blackness or something.

I use 15,000 mile oil change intervals on all my trucks. M1 and M1 filter.

They do just fine.

However, my Z gets the 2,000 mile treatment.

Have it tested. Color should not e an indicator.

Thank you very much for the replies people-- the time difference in Hawaii makes it hard for me to reply to you all on time. But I appreciate the help and am relieved. Makes sense to me
