Default Head Porting using New (LS1/LS6)/Exchanged Head?

Is there any advantage to have purchase a set of new cylinder heads for a Stage 2 porting over a set of exchanged head.

Also, is there any performance difference when a Stage II porting job is done on either a LS1 or LS6 cylinder head?

In the near furure, I would like to have a head and cam job done on my '02 SS, and I was wondering should I take an "exchanged" cylinder head or should I purchase a set of new LS1 or LS6 cylinder head.

Your advices and comments are highly appreciated. <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" />

Unless you happend to have a set of new heads it would be an unnecassary expense. Core heads must be checked for cracks and warps anyway, plus the core charge represents price of good used heads.

Current wisdom is there is no advantage to LS6 heads once you are at a stage I porting, based on flow #s.
