Is it .006?
+.006 'out of the hole' ?

This refers to the piston coming out past the top of the block at max height, eh?

TIA!

I have typically heard .006 as well.

Anyone ever find a motor that was .010?

Well, I can tell you how to calculate it on paper.

Deck Height = Block Deck Height - ( (Stroke/2) + Rod Length + Piston Compression Height)

Deck Height = 9.240" - ( (3.622"/2) + 6.098" + 1.338")

Deck Height = -0.0070"

The negative denotes the fact that it raises above the block.

Hope this helps ya,

Eric

LOL, no way factory tolerances are that close. I'll be that they are anywhere from .005 to .015 out of the hole. Explains why some cars are dogs and others run like hell!

Honkymofo, your right deck hieght will vary slightly but this will not make much difference in how motor runs, not enough to claim dog vs. hauls azz.
