Default To upgrade motor, I need to upgrade tranny and rear????

I would like a big bore motor, something like a crate motor from ARE, Mallet, Lingenfelter or something of the sort.

If I want to do this I HAVE to upgrade the rear end and tranny or else suffer quick death from those parts correct?

If you keep the stock 3.42's if you are a six speed and dont do 5000rpm clutch dumps on slicks you will be ok with the stock rear.
I would definitely upgrade the clutch to a RAM unit with adjustable master or Cartek etc.
I would stay away from Ligenfelter due to the raping you take on his prices.
ARE, MTI etc are good shops for built shortblocks and complete motors.
I think the clutch, asj master and a good shifter is all you need in the six speed.
With an A4 you will likely need an upgrade of parts and a good converter <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Cheers,
Chris

I plan to stay with street tires, hoping to move up to 315/17/40's when I wear out the tires I just bought brand new (285/17/40)....

I have a six speed and don't plan to drop the clutch any higher than I do now (my average drop is like 2500, I don't have any need to go higher than 3000 unless I want to waste my tires and buy new ones sooner).

I went to rapid motorsports and are. They seem to have nice packages, I just take a long time to get something, everytime I do something fast I always coming out losing.

Lingenfelter is the biggest rip-off out there. He is "NO" better than ARE, MMS, MTI, etc.

I spoke with them many times over the past year, nothing special there.

I'm going with an ARE 436, it puts out more N/A power than any of LPE's N/A engines at almost half the price.

Your tranny and rear-end: I don't plan on going to the track and I've been told by everyone that without the killer launches the stock rear-end will be fine. I did a 4L60E FLP upgrade which should also be just fine. If your gonna go to the track allot and/or use slicks/drags you better upgrade both.
