Default Oil leak help needed?

My car has been in storage since november. Am getting ready to take it out soon and looked under the car today and it is a little wet where the engine/oil pan connects to the transmission. Would this maybe be normal for a car that has sat for a while? There is not oil on the ground, but it is just a little wet where it connects. Suggestions at what might be the problem? The car does not have a lot of miles on it, if that matters.

I have oil all around my pan where it meets the block. It is due to the fact that the aluminum pan and block grow and shrink minutes amount and cause a little oil to leak. Never any on the ground but it is always there. I don't have any oil consumption problems either.

But, yours is in the back of the oil pan? Is it motor oil? If it is, than I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep an eye on your oil level and on the ground where you park it. I do that anyway. If it is not motor oil, than you have a different problem.

Also, there was not a lot of oil at all, less than what it looked like before. It was definetly not coming from above from what I could tell because everyting was bone dry above the pan. It almost looked like it was coming from the plug because it was a little wet around there, but the oil filter was also a little greasy feeling. I do think it is motor oil because it was really clean and I just changed it before I put it away for the winter. There was not any oil on the ground either. No oil consumption problems so far. Maybe I did not wipe it off good when I changed it. A friend mentioned valve cover gaskets, is that a possibility? If so how do I check them?

Well, if it is on the side by the filter I would just guess you missed some oil when you were wiping it up. I do that all the time.

I wouldn't think you would have oil coming out of your valve covers because you would notice oil draing down your block onto the pan and you said it was dry above it.

ERic

I uncovered the car and looked under the hood and it does not look like it is coming from the valve covers. There is no sign at all of oil running down. Like I said, I thought it was coming from where the block is connected to the transmission, but it really does not look like it because there was no sign of oil leaking where they are connected, but there was oil near there. The only thing I can think of is that I did not wipe it all up and while sitting spread to that area from the oil plug/filter area. I guess the only thing to do is wait and see if it comes back as I wiped everything up really well. It just kind of freaked me out because I do not understand why it would start leaking when it has not been started since november and it was not leaking before I changed the oil to store the car. Thanks for your insight though.
