Default Piston slap/engine noise - please read

I made a post on the truck area about the piston slap in all the LS1 derived engines. And since have investigated and found that the piston slap is also present in the f-body and vette. Please go to this link. We need everyones help to get GM to acknowledge that it is a problem and to resolve the issue. Thanks!!

Now if we could get them to overbore the rest of the engine I would be happy. Lets see.. A 436ci would be nice.

but what about us people that don't have the warranty anymore??????? Personnaly I am not too concerned about the "tapping" since it has been going on for 27,000 miles(when I first noticed it it had 20,000 on the car and 27,000 have been put on since then) If the performance of my car was affected by it I would be worried but there doesn't seem to be any smoke or pressure leakage in the cylinders so I'm not worried about it now... Hopefully by the time it hurts the motor I will have pulled it out sleeved it and stroked it!!!

99TA: My dealer said that even if people went out of warranty that they would still fix it because the parts are not available. He also said that dealers are allotted a certain amount of money to fix things out of warranty for customer satisfaction. My dealer said he will fix it but says they plan to only repair the problem ie: replace defective pistons and use the original rings. I find that hard to believe they won't replace the rings???
