Ok with all the talk about stock motors getting piston slap. I'm wondering how many of you had piston slap before the new big bore motor, and did it go away after the new engine?

Piston slap is a result of the pistons rattling around in their bores until reaching operating temperature. Cast pistons (like stock) have less tendancy to piston slap than forged slugs.
Most (99%) of all bore motors run a custom forged piston. Forged pistons by their nature are more prone to piston slap than their cast counterparts. However tolerances with the big bore motor are much tighter so piston slap is generally not that big a deal. My 360 ARE does not experience piston slap but I am sure some motors do.
Cheers,
Chris
