This is my head bolt liposuction machine! I took a shop vac. and a rubber hose taped them together then added a small piece of brake line to the end. This worked great to suck out ALL of the water and debris from the head bolt holes.
Rumor has it MTI removes the GM threadlocker that comes pre-applied to the bolts before they put them in, and on my most recent head swap I've been tempted to do the same. The stuff almost turns into a sand type substance and really screws with the bolt.
It takes 5 minutes with a dremmel to make a cleaning bolt. I just do it to make the new bolt install easier, but its definitly not something that *must* be done.
<strong>The problem is that if you dont get the chunky threadlock stuff out of the threads, you may feel the head bolt almost seize up when you put the new one in.
