What shims to use with the 918 springs?
I am using 918's on a set of stock LS1 heads and have had no trouble at all with valve float. We used the stock shims. What cam are you going with?

Why mess with the 915s? There really is no reason to not use the 918s considering the effort it takes to swap them out.

Extra spring pressure(if not needed) only wears guides and valve job out, doesnt help power, and can make valvetrain noisier. none one of these are good things.

is there a preferred tool that i should get to check installed spring height? ive tried to look for diff. ones, but all i ever find is a small telescoping one that u install in place of the spring and then measure height. basically its this: micrometer

The micrometer style i have is too big to work with stock Ls1 retainer size, i would use telescoping snap gauge to check them with a outside mike. Hope that helps.
I have a set of 2002 Zo6 springs but I was told they will not handle the fast ramps of the 224
I called MMS they qiouted me 380.00 for a set of springs, retainers and shim kit.
If I can use the stock shims I will do it.
I'll just buy the retainers and the 918s and be happy.
WDYT?
Ken
Are titanuim retainers worth it?
BTW I'm only turning 6600 rev limit.

I guess you can use those style if you measure register thickness on mike, and subtract that # from readings on mike itself.I would get #4929 it should have more usefullness than the other.

sorry..im still tryin to figure this all out..but what "mike" are you talkin about?
