Default What broke my plug electrode??

Well, #1, #2, and #8 cylinders are showing 20%, 24%, and 20% leakdown respectively. The rest are between 2% and 4%. It should be anywhere less than 5%. The intake is off and the heads are on their way to being off. Guess its time to see whats been making that tapping noise. Oh boy, I really wasn't looking forward to this.

The electrode isnt melted, its actually broken off. If you look at it closely as we did, you can see the jagged edge where it broke. Its doesnt appear to be melted, but I bet the piston rings are. I figure my front 2 cyls are the leanest but damn, not that lean. I still dont know about #8. It may just be wacked out for other reasons.

I was only running a 100 shot dry with my current setup. I just dont know why it would do somthing like this. Oh well. We'll see the rest of the damage tomorrow night.

Dan

Nope, the porcelain is perfect on all plugs. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Recently had the same problem with my #2 cylinder. I broke a chunk of the piston off and it mashed up the plug pretty bad. I was on the juice too. Good luck!!

A piece of metal in the combustion chamber can break off an electrode. A piece of valve to be more specific.

Well, i got that head off last night and didnt find any stray pieces of metal. The cylinder wall looks good but the chamber is really dark and I figure the rings are going south. I havent got the passenger head off cause the header is still in the way. I'll report back more later.
