Default Anyone ever use a Dial Indicator?

Just ordered a Dial Indicator and a Magnetic base for my mechanic.. Guess it goes on the rocker.

Is it pretty easy to use? Any tips or comments on using them? Pretty accurate way to measure preload?

TIA

pretty straight forward..... Make sure the base is set on a good solid area that would not move. (can't use the body of the car for example since it can change in refence too the head.) fining a place on the motor is a challenge it being aluminum. Set the prelaod too like 2, 1 is normaly good but 2 will be fine. Preload is set by the small indicator on the inside. 0 out the indicator then TQ away it's usraly in .001 increments. If setting it on the rocker you got too be carefull. there are other more accurate ways than setting it on the rocker, it should wrok fine if done right. You can just get creative and do it anyway you like.
