I've seen people refer to the LS1 as a "346" cubic inches. If you convert 5.7L to ci, you do indeed get 347.8386.
However, Chevy has for a long time made a 350"^3 engine. Convert 350 cubic inches to liters, and you get 5.73544834 and stuff. (It's a round-off thing.)

So, it's a 350, right?

 

most people call it a 350, but dont get it confused with a first gen 350, they dont even have the same bore or stroke. its a 346

other motors have been labeled incorrectly due to rounding off of liters or cubes, the mustang 5.0, if you do the math 302 is actualy like a 4.9xxx... the big block chevy 402 was badged as a 400 on some cars... I havent seen too many motors that didnt have a fraction of a cube, but they are never called 326.79 CID they jsut say 327 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I've never seen a 402 badged as a 400. The only 400's that I've seen are the 400 small-blocks. Now the BBC 402's were labeled as 396's in '70 because Chevy gave them a .030" overbore from the factory and didn't want the public getting "confused" with it.

 

Ive never actualy seen it, but I have read about it many times, they say it can lead to a lot of confusion because both the 402 Rat and 400 mouse were badged as 400s...

 

I know for a fact that I have seen Chevy trucks with a 402 badged as 400. I think that the Monte Carlo used a 400 badge on the bb 402 also.
