I just noticed my oil pressure is about7-10(just above the redmark)at idle and about 20 psi while driving. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> Could this be anything other than the oilpump about to die? If i do need to replace it are new oem ones any good or should i go with an ls6 pump? I cant see spending 150 or so for an ARE one if i dont have to. Also since i just noticed it, its possible i could have been driving on it for a week or so, could that have caused any damage and if so what kind?

When you replace the pump at least check the bearings. If the bearings look good just put the pump in if the bearings are worn but not blackened or chewed up replace them if they are blackened or chewed up then it needs to be torn down and cleaned and rebuilt.

Thanks guys, ill check out the bearings when i replace the pump. But as far a pumps go is there any difference in them ie. ls1/ls6, are new stock ones better than old, is it really worth it for an ARE or similar one?

I'd look into getting a Katech modified oil pump. Last I heard they were around $130 or so. Some of the other sponsors like MTI and TPIS have modded oil pumps as well but are probably more $.
I don't think anyone really knows for sure if the '02 or ls6 stock pump problems have been addressed. I know the 01's still had some problems. If you get a modded one, at least you'll know for sure and have piece of mind. I think that alone is worth the few extra bucks. Also, if you do a search, there is at least 1 person who modified his own pump. Maybe you can find him and email him.
Good luck.
