Default Which is more important?

I'd like to get a cam through TR's GP but plan on FI later on. My inability to make a decision on which FI route is holding me up and may make a difference as to which cam to get. <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />

Assuming traction is not a problem...which is more important from a punch (highway) at the different following speeds...horsepower or torque?

35mph?
55mph?
70mph?

I don't really know of any relevant information needed other than stock A4 tranny with a SY3500, diffy, and 3.23s plus bolt-ons.

Thanks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I would think that a car with a lot of TQ would be an excellent choice on the freeway. I believe that cars with higher HP are going to be more liked in the higher RPM's were they shine most.

from a roll with a SY 3500, you want top end power. The converter will keep your rpm at 4500 or higher so low end torque does nothing. If you don't drag race a lot at the track with good tires, get the TR cam on a 114 LSA and raise your shift points to 6500. The 114 will idle better and is generally a better choice for FI.

For drag racing with good tires, the 112 LSA is a little better choice.

That's good info. Thanks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I've been looking at the ATI stage II and also Rob Raymer's single turbo kit. I think both are great products and would be MORE than satisfactory at any speed but I didn't want to make a cam decision that would put me in the wrong power band for either one.

From some other answers I got it looks like the 224/228 is suggested for either one...the emphasis being on more exhaust than intake.

One of the other reasons I'm concerned about the tq vs hp is that I currently run 18" wheels and I knew that the turbos where tq monsters. With a cam, SY3500, and a turbo...I didn't want to punch it going 55+ and put her in the ditch. NO NO not good.

I didn't know if the SC would be safer in that respect.

Might have to look at 17"s and DRs too.
