raise rev limiter?

Default raise rev limiter?

With the TR224 cam what should I raise my rev limiter to? I have it set to stock which is 6200 i believe. Once the tr224/114 cam with 918 springs and 772 retainers+pushrods go in what should the rev limiter be set to?

6700, shift at 6500. but, that is just my opinion <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

My revlimiter is set at 6800 and I shift at 6600.

Great thanks for the feedback guys. So I am thinking 6800 limit and 6500 shift should be ok?

First you need to find out where you make peak power then set the shift 100 RPM above that and the rev limiter 100 to 200 RPM above the shift. I have the Tr 224 cam the limiter is set at 6900 RPM and it shifts at 6800 and makes peak at 6700.

I would also like to have that question answered.
I just installed a MMS 218 cam and ASP pulley kit.
MMS recommended that i raise the rev limiter.
Is it necessary and how high should it go?

I had a 224/224 cam installed and had my compression raised to 11.3:1. My rev limiter is set to 6900 right now and I shift around 6600 rpm. I am making peak power around 6400 so I gave myself a couple hundred RPM window to shift with my shift light.

With your 224 cam, you really should raise your rev limiter to at least 6500 if not a little higher. You have good springs, but I am not sure what kind of retainers you are using, valves, etc. Just make sure that your head package components are up for the tast of raising your rev limiter.

However I have a slight concern. What should I set it to initially to figure out my peak. I mean should I set the shift to 6800? then dyno tune it? What is the maximum the engine will rev to with this cam, and those springs, so I can se it to that. Then dyno tune it as you suggested.
