Re: How do valve guides wear? The rocker arm swing action across end of valve stem causes side loading of valve against guide, there is oil present but it still wears, higher spring tension and larger lifts cause guide and valve to wear faster than stock setup.

Re: How do valve guides wear? Roller rockers help reduce the wear a bit since the rocker arm tip rolls across the valve tip instead of slides. I'm not sure if roller rockers are available for LS1's though.

Sublime dude, i read an article by Warren Johnson about how testing of roller rockers showed that tip didnt actually roll in use, like believed and there was actually less side loading with a non roller tip (like LS1 type) because the radius was far larger on this style than on roller tip wheel size. It makes sense if you think about it. I wish WJ would right a race engine book i would be first in line for it! <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Re: How do valve guides wear? Hehe, interesting LS1derful, they roll on my 383(mopar)in my Challenger. Don't worry, the Challenger will be gone soon, and I will be shopping for an LS1 car, hopefully ordering a SOM Formula M6 before production ends. Do you know the latest they can be ordered?
