Default 408 questions

okay guys here's what i've got. 408 iron block eagle, eagle, arp, mahle 12cc dish pistons short block. p/p 317 heads 71cc chamber 2.02/1.60 valves (flow about like the patriot stage 2-3), 918's, h.s. 1.7 rockers, com lifters, arp's, .040 cometics. fast 90, n.w.90, 42 lb injectors, 85 mm vette maf, fuel rails, pacesetter longtubes (will be true duals w/ h pipe). vinci 056 cam 216/224 dur, 115 lobe sep, .551 lift. slp u/d pulley. truck coils. 4l60e built for 600 hp, fuddle 3000, 3.73 gears, all the online calculators say about 10.25 comp ratio and if the pistons stick out .010, with my .040 cometics i expect a .030 quench. I wanted to keep the comp ratio low so i could run regular gas. It will not see any track duty, just want a strong daily driver. low rpm torque is more important than high rpm hp.

My questions are
about how much tq/hp can i expect?

with all this, the stock computer is way off on the tune, after reading ALOT on here i don't want to wash the walls on first start up, but i do want to start it in the garage before taking it to a professional tuner (probably sqr) to ensure no leaks, fans work, pump works, vats off etc. would a wait 4 me tune (or similar) tune be good enough for the first start? I dont want to get a $ 400 nelson or others mail order tune before taking to the dyno for another $400

anyone got a similar setup?

That's a really low SCR you have. I'm running 11.6 SCR on 93 pump gas with no problems. Your 10.25 SCR would be good if you were adding a procharger or something but that's really gonna hurt you running N/A. I would say low 400's as well.

the cam was picked before i decided to stroke it. and i plan on using 87 or 89 octane, trying to avoid having to pay for 93 since its going to be a d.d. only. as far as the cam you got a better choice? (remember torque is the priority as well as the lower octane) if i can raise the comp ratio without requiring 93 octane i can always have the heads milled. does anyone know the max comp ratio for the lower octanes?(couldn't find using search)

Well, the stock CR is around 10.1 and 93 is recommended for that. Granted, it's all in the tune and the amount of timing you are running. Why would you buy a performance engine and skip out on fuel and other things to sacrifice power?

A 236/240 on a 114 would be fun. Your heads flow up to .600 i'm sure so that .551 lift isn't going to even take full advantage of them.

The octane you need to run is going to be determined by your DCR, not your SCR, so it doesn't matter what your SCR is. I know the highest DCR you would want to run on 93 is around 8.5:1, but as for 89 or 87, I have no idea. For your cam, it sounds like something in the 230's ground on LSK lobes would work well for you since you're all about the torque - and the LSK lobes would better utilize your ported heads.
