Default i need help...

i don't have a clue as to what cam to get. i know i am going to get 243's and i would preferably want a cam with a 112 or lower LSA with XE lobes for spring life. i drive my car everyday and its the only car i have, but i want about 400-425 rwhp. do i have any options or am i gonna have to change plans?

232/236 XE might work well. I would go with the XE-R lobes instead though. The 228/232 cam seems to be getting popular too.

i was weary of running XE-R's cause i hear its a biotch changing valve springs and i know the R's have a pretty aggressive ramp rate.

Nothing wrong with XE lobes...they're still fairly high in lift. The main thing you want to concentrate on in achieving your goals with a daily driver is to keep compression high, quench tight and overlap at a moderate level. With quench in the .035" range, you can run static compression above 11.0:1 and hit your hp/tq goals with a smaller cam.

Spend the extra cash on the upgraded springs, upgraded valve job and on head milling. Run a cam in the 224-232 range and you'll hit your goals. You can save your money for a FAST 90/90 when you're ready to step it up in the future.

All consistent evidence on this board shows the 243 heads out-powering the 5.3 heads (if the compression is equal).

61cc for pistons with no flycuts, 59cc if you're running fly-cut pistons (which will net you around 61cc).
