You're probably thinking of huckcrimp type fasteners. We use them at work. Although they are usually the nut portion of the fastener. The part you use to tighten breaks off when a specific torque value is reached. Leaving a clamping piece left.

I vote for GM head bolts. No need to retorque them after a heat cycle and I have have never had a leaky head gasket with them after over 10 swaps on various cars.
